Water flows gently over the rugged cascade of Upper Somersby Falls, amongst the moss covered boulders and lush rainforest of the Brisbane Waters National Park. Located just a short distance from the famous beaches of the New South Wales Central Coast, Upper Somersby Falls is a hidden gem in a landscape rich in natural beauty.

The sweet scent of waterlogged rainforest lingered in the air, while a beautiful soft light from an overcast sky lit the forest floor. As I set up my camera and considered various possible angles, several families explored the falls. The running water seemed to delight the young children, several of whom ended up far wetter than their displeased mothers would have preferred. As the families moved deeper into the rainforest, and their happy chatter began to fade, I once again had the falls to myself, allowing me capturing this beautiful scene.
